Politique de confidentialité
Version of 27 October 2026
La politique de confidentialité est disponible en polonais (version faisant foi) et en anglais. Ci-dessous, la version anglaise.
Nuclidea (nuclidea.com) is a free educational website about chemical elements, isotopes and radioactive decay. You do not create an account, buy anything or sign up for a newsletter. Still, while you use the site, some information about your visit reaches our server. Below we explain what data this is, why we need it, how long we keep it and what your rights are (Article 13 GDPR). The Polish version of this policy is the binding one; this is a translation.
1. Data controller
The controller of personal data is , running a sole proprietorship under the business name , , Poland, tax ID (NIP) .
For any matter concerning personal data, write to . The controller has not appointed a data protection officer, as there is no obligation to do so.
2. Summary
- We have no user accounts, no sales, no newsletter and no advertising.
- The site does not load scripts, fonts or images from other companies' servers - there is no Google Analytics, no Facebook plugin and no similar tool.
- We use one cookie: it remembers the language you chose. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
- We run visit statistics ourselves, on our own Matomo installation. IP addresses are shortened there, and browsers that send the “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal are not counted at all.
- We do not sell data, do not profile visitors and do not transfer data outside the European Economic Area.
3. Server log
Every time you visit the site, the server automatically records in its log: your IP address, the date and time, the address of the page or file requested, the response code, the amount of data sent, the address of the page you came from, and the name and version of your browser and operating system (the User-Agent).
The log is necessary to deliver the site and to protect it - it lets us detect attacks, abuse and errors. The hosting provider also uses it to prepare aggregate traffic statistics (AWStats). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the service securely and reliably (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Logs are kept by the hosting provider for the period set by its own rules. Statistical summaries downloaded from them (which include, among other things, the IP addresses of the most active visitors) are kept for no longer than 12 months.
4. Visit statistics (Matomo)
To know which pages and tools visitors use and what is worth developing, we count page views. When you open another page, your browser sends its address, title and the address of the previous page to our server. The server passes this information - together with your IP address, browser name (User-Agent) and preferred language - to our own Matomo installation running on the same hosting. Matomo does not store any cookies in your browser.
Matomo stores the IP address in shortened form (for IPv4 addresses the last two parts are set to zero), so it does not point to a specific device. The address is used to determine an approximate location (country, region, city). Matomo also stores the device type, operating system, browser, language, pages visited, visit time and the page you came from.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in developing the service based on aggregate statistics (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you do not want to be counted, enable “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” in your browser - the server then sends nothing to Matomo. You can also object by e-mail.
Detailed visit data is kept for up to 12 months. After that only aggregate reports (such as page view counts) remain, which cannot identify anyone.
5. “Report an error” form
Next to sections with data you can report an error. We then store: the section and value you pointed to, your description, a nickname (if you give one - it is optional), the page address and language, the date and the site version number. We do not ask for an e-mail address.
We do not store your IP address. To limit spam we keep only a cryptographic hash of it (with a key that changes daily), which we delete after 30 days at the latest. The administrator is notified about a new report through the Discord messenger - the notification contains only the report number, the section and the page address, without the nickname or description.
Reports are used to check and correct the data on the site. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in publishing accurate data (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep reports as a history of corrections for as long as the site operates; at your request we will delete the nickname or the whole report. Please do not include personal data in the description.
6. E-mail contact
If you write to , we process your e-mail address, your name (if you give it) and the content of your message - only to reply and deal with your request. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in handling correspondence (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep messages for as long as needed to deal with the matter, and then for no longer than 3 years.
7. Application error log
When a technical error occurs on the server, we record its description together with the time, the page address and the browser name (User-Agent) - without the IP address. This is used only to fix errors (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Entries that have not recurred for 12 months are deleted automatically.
8. Cookies and browser storage
When you change the site language, we store your choice in your browser: in the “lang” cookie (valid for 12 months) and in the browser's local storage (localStorage). This way the site opens in your language the next time you visit nuclidea.com. The cookie contains only the language code (e.g. “en”), is not used for tracking and is strictly necessary for a feature you use - so it does not require consent. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
We do not use any other cookies.
9. Who receives the data
The website, the database, the Matomo statistics and the e-mail service run on servers of the hosting provider dhosting.pl Sp. z o.o. (ul. Pamiętna 14B/2, 02-972 Warszawa, Poland), which stores this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement, to the extent needed to provide the hosting service. Public authorities may also receive data where the law requires it. We do not share data with anyone else and do not transfer it outside the European Economic Area.
10. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access your data and receive a copy (Article 15 GDPR),
- have your data rectified (Article 16 GDPR),
- have your data erased (Article 17 GDPR),
- restrict processing (Article 18 GDPR),
- object to processing based on legitimate interest (Article 21 GDPR),
- lodge a complaint with the Polish supervisory authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, Poland, uodo.gov.pl), or with the supervisory authority of your country.
To exercise your rights, write to . In the statistics the IP address is shortened, and in reports it is replaced by a hash, so we usually cannot link this data to a particular person on our own. In that case, in line with Article 11 GDPR, we will ask you for additional information (such as the date and time of your visit or the report number) or tell you that the data cannot be identified.
11. Voluntary use and automated decisions
Using the site does not require you to provide any data. Server log entries are created automatically, because the site could not work without them; reporting an error and sending an e-mail are entirely voluntary. We do not make decisions about anyone based solely on automated processing and we do not profile visitors.
12. Security
The connection to the site is encrypted (HTTPS). Only the administrator has access to the data, the software is updated regularly, and we collect only what is really needed - hence the shortened IP addresses and the absence of user accounts.
13. Links to other websites
The site links to its data sources, such as NNDC, NIST, PubChem and IUPAC. Once you go to their pages, their own privacy rules apply.
14. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the way the site works or the law changes. The current version is always available on this page, with the date of the last change at the top.
